Student Admissions Checklist
Step 1.
Submit an Application for Admission. Include a $50 non-refundable application processing fee.
- Attach recent reports from the following sources: Psycho-educational testing or neuropsychological evaluations within the last 2 years
- Current I.E.P. from school
- Letters or reports from current teachers or therapists at school
- Therapists reports for services such as speech and language, occupational therapy, etc.
- Medical reports - diagnosis and information about health/medical concerns
Step 2.
Schedule an Admissions Assessment Visit - This visit is for the purpose of determining your child's overall academic, social and behavioral level of functioning - it does not involve formal testing. Experienced teaching staff and our social worker will observe your child, and administer informal assessments throughout the day.
Upon review of the above, if the LCA Admissions Committee feels that your child would benefit from LCA programming, please complete steps 3 and 4:
Step 3.
Neuropsychological evaluation - This evaluation is for the purpose of identifying your child's specific learning strengths and weaknesses so that LCA teachers can select appropriate programs and teaching methods.
- A licensed neuropsychologist or psychologist must perform the evaluation.
- Assessments tools (tests) and administration methods will be selected based upon your child's needs. This is decided by you and the psychologist.
- The cost of this evaluation varies, and may be covered under your health insurance plan.
- Send a copy of the final assessment report to LCA.
Step 4.
Submit health and release admissions forms and deposit to hold your child's place.
