Our Students

Student Profile

Learning Circle Academy students can learn, but they learn differently. They are truly the students who "fall in the middle". Many come to us with a history of frustrating educational experiences. Typical special education classrooms are not academically challenging enough, and general education classrooms are too difficult. Success in either of these settings has usually been short-lived and based upon a particularly good teacher and transitory group of classmates. Students who have been included in regular education classrooms have generally required a great deal of paraprofessional assistance, extensive work modification and resource room support. The majority of these students have suffered great academic and social losses. In nearly all cases, the move to middle school is just too overwhelming because of patchy academic skills, poor social skills and delayed emotional development.
