Andrew's life prior to his entering Learning Circle Academy was one of frustration and feeling
inadequate. He struggled with loneliness, failure, and depression. When he was an eleven-year-old entering sixth grade last fall, we knew as parents, that Andrew needed another environment in order to feel a sense of self-worth, and to be able to meet success, academically, socially, and emotionally. It was not an option to continue down the path we were on at that time.
After much searching, we found Learning Circle Academy. It has been a life altering educational and emotional experience, not just Andrew, but for our daughter and us as well. Andrew finally knows who he is. He knows what he can accomplish. He now has loving and understanding people around him throughout his school day who believe in him. They have taught him to BELIEVE in himself - and this is the greatest gift of all.
Andrew now understands and enjoys board games, using his imagination, and playing sports. He understands team work and how to make friends. He is laughing and smiling from the deepest part of his soul. He is reading stories and understanding what they mean. He is learning about history and government, science, and understanding math concepts in ways he could not be reached before. At LCA, Andrew is learning life skills, and the "soft skills" he will need to make it in the world. This helps him to socialize, self-regulate, and adjust to society at large.
As each child has special needs, LCA provides extensive testing, evaluation, computerized cognitive training, and implementation of specific program's that addresses individual needs. The result of LCA's endeavors should enable each child to take his proper place in society.
It is our fondest hope that LCA shall continue to thrive and expand its horizons. With the help and support from people in our community, this small school with BIG DREAMS and ASPIRATIONS shall grow and prosper to provide, many more opportunities for other special needs children in our community.
Thank you all,
Lisa & Steve Smith
