My son, Trevor will be 16 years old in April, 2008. He is in the 9th grade. Trevor started Learning Circle Academy in March, 2007.
I began searching for a new school years ago. Trevor needed a school that could individualize the curriculum. He needed a smaller environment. It was also important for Trevor to have speech therapy and life skills training. Academically, Trevor is a few years behind, but he has a great capacity for learning. Trevor is quiet. He has not had behavior issues in school, but it was impossible to find a school that could fill all of our needs. I was always searching Metro Parent magazine, the Ann Arbor Observer, and online for private schools. Finally, I came across an ad for Learning Circle Academy. When I looked at the LCA web site online I was taken aback...a school for kids with complex learning disabilities, and they go through high school!
Since starting at Learning Circle Academy, the changes I notice in Trevor are, less anxiety (much less), and he is happier and more relaxed. He is doing his homework independently and because of this, he is growing more confident!
The staff at LCA is wonderful. They look at each child individually. They listen and
understand! They are flexible with our needs. There are exactly what we were
looking for!
