Voshon

picture of AdamMy 13-year-old son, Voshon has Down Syndrome. He struggled in our local public school district. Some of the teachers and administrators had a preconceived notion of his abilities and many students did not accept him socially. He was not challenged in the classroom and regressed. These issues affected his self-confidence. It became very frustrating for our entire family. I realized that if he stayed in that environment he would not reach his full potential.

Voshon started Learning Circle Academy in November 2006. He achieved more in his first year at LCA then he did in his last 3 years of public schools. He has made significant academic and social accomplishments.  He looks forward to going to school and completing his homework. I have seen significant strides in his math, reading and self-confidence. Several family members and friends have commented on how he has progressed since attending LCA.

The LCA environment and dedication of the staff and administrators has made the difference in his life. A staff member is at the front door every morning with a smile to greet the students. This brightens the day for many of them.  Voshon’s teachers have worked to individualize his education plan. He is challenged in the classroom.  As a result of all these positive things is striving to reach his full potential.
